Online dating in Croatia has been around for a long time but is not as popular as it is in other countries on this side of the world such as Ukraine and Russia. It truly is a sad state of affairs if you are considering online dating in Croatia because there is really only one site worth checking out (I’ll mention this site further below).

The problem with sites that you might be familiar with, like Badoo and OKCupid, is that they have only a handful of members in Croatia and too many profiles that are obvious fakes and inactives. And, if you are considering living outside of Zagreb, best of luck to you because the concentration of singles will be few and far between.
Croatians tend meet their romantic partners via the traditional methods of mutual friends, organizations, work, or school, etc. And as mentioned in the paragraph above, your best success with online dating in Croatia will be in Zagreb where there is a larger pool of people from which to choose.
Despite the tough online dating scene in Croatia, you might be able to find some diamonds in the rough. Croatian women are the most beautiful women of the Balkans. Whether you are living in Zagreb or partying on Hvar Island, you will see what I am talking about. Work hard so that you can enjoy the rewards.
Should you decide to sign up for the online dating site I recommend below, be sure to read member profiles carefully as you might come across a lot of fake profiles. Usually, I can spot these profiles easily. A woman who has only one picture posted, is wearing a tight bikini and making an overly suggestive pose are usually clear signals to steer clear.

Iskrica.com: Iskrica.com (“spark.com”) is the best (and really the “only”) online dating site in Croatia. It is not what it once was, but it still has a large membership base and will be your best online option if you are looking for love in any of the popular cities such as Zagreb.
It started out as strictly a dating site, but it has since evolved into more of a social network, complete with forums, blogs, etc.
Iskrica.com has over 480,000 members, roughly 20% of Croatias’s population! The website doesn’t look like much, but it is packed with features. Iskrica has everything you’d expect of a modern dating site these days, and more.
With a loaded deck of communication features, in-depth profiles, targeted search options, and an extended welcome to users across Europe, Iskrica is a true sleeper hit of a dating site. If you’re in Europe, and especially if you’re in or near Croatia, definitely check this site out.

Sign up Process
To start, enter a username, your email, and click on the link in the verification email. To become “a full member of our cyber commune” as the website puts it, you’ll next choose a password, select your gender, birthday, location, sexual orientation, appearance, and what brought you to the site. This is all that’s mandatory, and from you here you are free to browse/search profiles if you wish.
It would be a shame to stop there, however, as there are a number of unique features for the profiles on Iskrica, including many pre-selected questions for you to answer, concerning your lifestyle, hobbies, etc. and a “video profile,” where you upload a separate video of you answering questions/prompts for 8 sections (character/personality, job, friends, socializing, travel, food, love, and other).
How to Locate Potential Matches
You can technically search through members before signing up, filtering by gender, sexual preference and age. However, no photos show up in the search results, or in the profiles you click on. Once you’re in the site, searches can be filtered by gender, orientation, last login, photos, age, star sign, location and more.
Premium members get many more filter options, including appearance, what they’re looking for, and all the questions available to answer on each profile.
Two more fun search features are “Sports Concept” and “Hobby Partner”, where you can search for members that practice a specific sport or hobby. There are tons of options to choose from, everything from climbing, spearfishing and acting, to volleyball, cooking and tattooing. You can also filter by skill level: beginner, amateur, or professional.
How to Communicate with Other Members
Messaging is mainly text, with audio/video messages, audio/video chat, and instant messaging chats also available. You also can post personal ads, choosing between 3 categories (Straight, Gay, and Couple), and 5 categories: Sex, Games, Going, BlindDate, and All Others.
Not surprisingly, most of these posts are from men, with the Sex category typically full of older guys looking for younger women. Finally, you can post to a public calendar, sharing your planned activities, e.g. lounging in the park this Saturday afternoon.
