How to Get a Tourist Visa for Sudan

Sudan Tourist Visa

Sudan Tourist Visa

Getting a tourist visa for Sudan is not as hard as you would think. In fact, it is pretty easy despite the fact that a lot of the information you will see around the web is completely WRONG. I even read rumors on a couple of websites that Sudanese Tourist visas were not being issued to citizens of certain countries (including the United States). This is NOT TRUE as well, so don’t believe everything you read.

Ok, I’m going to cut through a lot of the BS you read on the web and show you below the simple steps that you need to take to get your Sudan Tourist Visa. This kind of visa is given to people who intend to stay in Sudan for vacation/holiday purposes for a period of up to one (1) month.

If you fall in love with Sudan, you can get an extension on your visa at the Passport, Immigration and Nationality Office in Khartoum.

Go to my Sudan visa page for information on other types of visas for Sudan.

Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to Sudan: Yes. The Government of Sudan requires U.S. citizens to present a passport and an entry visa or entry permit upon arrival at any port of entry.

  • The Government of Sudan routinely denies entry visas to travelers whose passports contain visas issued by the Government of Israel or other evidence of travel to Israel, such as exit or entry stamps.
  • Visitors must register at the Ministry of Interior within three days after arriving in Sudan (many hotels will do this for you, so check with them)
  • All foreigners traveling more than 25 kilometers outside of Khartoum must obtain a travel permit from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs in Khartoum (this applies to people traveling for any purpose).

Visa required for non-U.S. citizens before you go to Sudan: Yes. Virtually everyone who is not from Sudan and wants to go to Sudan for any purpose will need a visa.
