South Korea Visa General Information and Eligibility

- Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to South Korea: No
- U.S. passport holders can enter South Korea without a visa for a stay of up to 90 days (tourist or business reasons).
- If you are staying for more than 90 days, or for any reason other than tourism or a temporary non-profit business trip, you must have a visa before you enter.
- If you are visiting South Korea to make money (e.g. teaching English), or for stays longer than 90 days, you need to get a visa at a South Korea Embassy or Consulate before you go. Then, once you enter South Korea, you must also apply for an Alien Registration Card. A cool flowchart of the process is here.
