If you are traveling through Romania en route to another country, you might need to get an Airport Transit Visa. The airport transit visa allows you access into the international area of an airport until you have to board the plane to the country of destination.

I’ll break everything down for you below about how to go about getting the Romania Airport Transit Visa.

Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to Romania: No.

  • U.S. citizens can enter Romania and stay for 90 days without a visa within a given six-month period.
  • If you want to stay in Romania for longer than 90 days, you are going to need to get an extension from the Romanian Immigration Office in the area of your residence.
  • If you stay longer than 90 days, you will need an exit visa.

Receive your visa

Congratulations!  The Embassy or Consulate of Romania will give to you your brand new Romania visa.
