How to Get a Journalist Visa for Indonesia

Are you going to Indonesia to capture a story?  You will need the Journalist Visa.  Find out the steps below on how to get this.

Get authorization

Get approval from the Information Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia. Details are at this webpage.

Find your consulate

If you’re outside of the U.S., go to this site here.

If you’re inside the U.S, you can find your “jurisdiction” based on the State you live in here.

Translate website

In many cases, the website that you find will be in the local Indonesian language. You will need to click a button (normally on the top right of the page) to translate the website to English.

Find the visa pages

Find a link somewhere on the page that says something like “Consular and Visas” or “Visas” or “Consulate Section.”

Find the limited stay visa link

Find the link to “Journalist Visa” to determine the required documents the Consulate requires to process your application.

The site for the Embassy of Indonesia in the United Kingdom shows the documents required for the Journalist Visa.

Submit Materials

Submit the required information (and fees) that you gathered in Step 5 to the consulate.

Receive your visa

Congratulations! After a period of waiting, the Indonesian Consulate/Embassy will give to you your brand new Indonesia visa.
