How to Get a Business Visa for East Timor

East Timor Business Visa

East Timor Business Visa

Getting a business visa for East Timor is just as simple as getting a tourist visa for East Timor.  The process and eligibility requirements are exactly the same.

Just remember that you do not need to get a visa before you arrive to East Timor if you will be arriving by air. You will likely be landing at the Dili International Airport (a.k.a. Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport – DIL). In that case, you can get your visa on arrival for US$30 in cash (make sure you have this cash on you when you land).

If you will be arriving in East Timor by land…well, you will need to get a visa before you arrive.  The process is very simple and can be done all online.  Go to this page here and scroll down to the section where it says “Applying in Advance” and follow the fool-proof instructions. That’s it!

Here is just a summary of the general eligibility information for the Tourist Visa for East Timor (a.k.a. Timor-Leste Tourist Visa).

Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to East Timor (a.k.a. Timor-Leste):  “No” if you are arriving in East Timor by air and “Yes” if you are arriving by land. See this link for more info.

Visa required for non-U.S. citizens before you go to East Timor:
“No” if you are arriving in East Timor by air and “Yes” if you are arriving by land.  The only exception is if you are either a Portuguese or Indonesian National.  See this link for more info.

  • Travelers of any country may get a Tourist and Business Visa on arrival if arriving at Dili International Airport or Dili Seaport.
  • Visas on arrival are granted for 30 days stay, single entry.
  • Those wishing to obtain stay of up to 90 days and/or a multiple entry facility prior to arrival should apply in advance for a “Visa application Authorization”.

Land Border Crossings:  Only nationals of Indonesia and Portugal may obtain a visa or entry clearance on arrival at a land border.  All other nationalities are required to apply for a “Visa Application Authorization” prior to entering at a land border crossing.
