How to Get a Tourist Visa for the Bahamas

Bahamas Tourist Visa

Bahamas Tourist Visa

The Bahamas was the first country I ever traveled to outside of the United States.  I remember going there on a cruise vacation when I was about 8 years old. Fortunately, the visa process for the Bahamas is not incredibly difficult.  If you are an American looking to come to the Bahamas for a short stay, all you need is your passport…no visa needed.

I’ll break everything down for you below about how to go about getting the Bahamas Tourist Visa.

(Go to my Bahamas visa page for information on how to get a different type of visa for the Bahamas.)

Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to the Bahamas:  No.  U.S. citizens only need to bring a passport.

Visa required for non-U.S. citizens before you go to the Bahamas:  Check the list here at the Bahamas High Commission in Section 6, #13a to see if you need to get a visa before you go to the Bahamas

1
Find your closest consulate

If you’re inside the U.S.:

The Embassy of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas Permanent Mission of The Bahamas to the Organization of American States 2220 Massachusetts Avenue, North West Washington, DC, 20008

If you’re outside of the U.S.: Click here

2
Gather documentation

The official list of required documents, fees, and forms is located here at the Government of Bahamas website (a fantastic one-stop shop for Bahamas visa information).

3
Submit information

Submit your required materials and visa fee from Step 2 to the embassy or consulate you found in Step 1.

4
