The V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa

South Africa is a wonderful place. I actually lived there for a year and got a chance to really explore almost all areas of the country, including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, and Pretoria.

Searching for an apartment online in South Africa is not that hard, so I will give to you below the best resources to use to begin your search. Note that, if you are looking for short-term rentals, the best time will be during the winter months (June through August) as most of the country is on vacation (or as the South Africans say, “holiday”) during the December through February time period.

  • My Property ZA: Decent site and worth checking out, but not as comprehensive as the sites above.

You can often find some hidden gems if you dig through the classifieds and real estate agent listings.

  • Pam Golding: Pam Golding is a real estate agency with a strong brand name in South Africa. I actually used it to search for apartments when I lived in Mauritius as well.
