How to Find an Apartment in China

The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China

China is located in Asia. The official language is Chinese. The largest cities are Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou.

Below is a selection of the best resources for searching for an apartment in China.

China Apartment Search Engines

When I’m looking for an apartment abroad, I normally like to start with the country-specific apartment search engines and portals. Here are the most popular ones.

  • Ganji: Ganji is one of the first sites I would try out. It is best to use Google Translate or get a friend who can read Mandarin to help you as the site is entirely in Chinese.
  • G58G58 is a solid website. Similar to the caese with Ganji, you need to get a friend who can read Mandarin or use Google Translate.
  • FangFang is an extremely busy website with a terrible design, but it has quite a few apartments to choose from, making it a decent place to check out.
  • Anjuke: Anjuke is a great site if you are looking for a place to stay in Beijing.

Classifieds and Real Estate Agents

You can often find some hidden gems if you dig through the classifieds and real estate agent listings.

  • Craigslist: Pioneers in the internet classifieds space. These guys have tons of China apartment options that are updated daily. Craigslist is the first place I would check after testing out the China-specific search engines.
  • Baixing: Baixing is a giant Chinese classifieds site.

General Apartment and Housing Search Engines

If you have already exhausted your options above, check out the general apartment and housing search engines below.

  • Vrbo.comA giant in the vacation rental space with properties featured in countries around the world.
