I’ll break everything down for you below about how to go about getting the Portugal Airport Transit Visa.
Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to Portugal: No.
- Portugal is a party to the Schengen Agreement. As such, U.S. citizens for business or tourism are permitted to stay in the Schengen area for 90 days without a visa within a six-month period.
Visa required for non-U.S. citizens before you go to Portugal:

- If you’re outside of the U.S.: Click here.

- If you are applying in the U.S., the latest visa fees are listed here.
Submit your required materials from Step 2 and visa fee from Step 3 to the Embassy or Consulate you found in Step 1.
- Submission instructions will vary from consulate to consulate.
- If you are applying in the United States, check the submission instructions at the website of the embassy or consulate you found in Step 1.
Congratulations! The Embassy or Consulate of Portugal will give to you your brand new Portugal visa.
