If you are traveling to Macau for a short trip for business or pleasure, you might need to get an Ordinary Visitor visa before you go depending on what country you are from.  This type of visa would be applied for at an Embassy or Consulate of China.

I’ll break everything down for you below about how to go about getting the Macau Visitor Visa.

  • Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to Macau:  No
    • If you are a tourist, you may visit for up to 30 days without a visa.
    • You must have a China visa if you plan to travel there from Macau.
  • Visa required for non-U.S. citizens before you go to Macau:
    • Check this list at Travel China Guide in order to see if you need a visa before you go to Macau.
    • This list is a bit more to the point and shows those people who DO NOT need a visa to get into Macau.

  • Submission instructions will vary from consulate to consulate and embassy to embassy, so you will need to check the submission instructions at the website of the embassy or consulate you found in Step 1.

Congratulations!  The Embassy or Consulate of China will give to you your brand new Macau visa.
