If you are coming to Belarus for tourism, business, study, visiting relatives, or any other potential short term reasons, you might need to get a Short Term Visa (Type C) before you go to Belarus.  This type of visa is valid for 90 days.

I’ll break everything down for you below about how to go about getting the Belarus Short Term Visa.

  • Visa required for U.S. citizens before you go to Belarus: Yes.
    • U.S. citizens need to get a visa in advance of going to Belarus.
    • All U.S. citizens visiting or residing in Belarus must register with the local office of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Ministry of Interior (formerly OVIR) within 5 business days of arrival.
    • If you receive a visa for a temporary stay but want to stay in Belarus for longer than 90 days, you need to apply for a temporary or permanent residence with the Ministry of Interior. You must make the application in Belarus within the 90 days allotted for a temporary stay.

  • The official list of required supporting documents is here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but you should definitely check the website of the Consulate or Embassy you found in Step 1 above to confirm what is required for you.

  • Submission instructions will vary from consulate to consulate and embassy to embassy, so you will need to check the submission instructions at the website of the embassy or consulate you found in Step 1.

Receive your visa

Congratulations!  The Embassy or Consulate of Belarus will give to you your brand new Belarus visa.
